Plano After Dark: Don't Miss These Nightlife Hot Spots

Plano may look like a quiet Dallas suburb on the surface, but this unassuming city is actually custom-made for night owls

Whether you grab a drink at a rooftop bar, catch a show put on by up-and-coming musicians or simply sip a drink in a laid-back bar, the nightlife in Plano caters to an array of interests.

Wood Fired Fun

Pizzas are blazing in the wood-fire oven at Urban Crust, but you can cool off in the pizzeria's attached rooftop bar, 32 Degrees (1006 E. 15th St., Plano). This third-story bar offers sweeping views of downtown Plano and really cold drinks—the name derives from the temperature at which draft beers are poured. Some tap drinks like Moscow Mules, are served at five degrees below. Keep your drink cold by resting it on the ice strip that runs across the bar’s top.

Local Watering Hole

Hang with the locals and enjoy the Plano nightlife at Fillmore Pub (1004 E. 15th St., Plano), a laid-back establishment based downtown. Modeled after a British pub complete with an English cottage facade and dark wood furnishings, this late-night establishment offers an array of local, domestic and imported craft beers. The extensive whiskey menu features selections from countries as varied as Japan, Canada and Ireland. The pub also serves a handful of late-night appetizers.

Hidden Gem

Located inside the upscale Shops at Legacy shopping center, the Ginger Man (7205 Bishop Road, Suite E1, Plano) is a casual pub with a thriving music scene. Catch a live show on the comfy outdoor patio with musical acts covering genres from blues to rock. Test your smarts during the pub’s weekly trivia night or enjoy a game of darts. Wine and traditional pub food is served, but local draft and bottled beers remain the real draw.

History Buffs Welcome

Old World charm is alive and well at Holy Grail Pub (8240 Preston Road, Suite 150, Plano), a European-themed tavern located in Headquarters Village, a casual outdoor strip mall. Choose from more than 100 whiskey and craft beer selections in this relaxed setting adorned with dark wood and brass accents. Late night meal service is available from light snacks to burgers. The pub holds weekly trivia nights, as well.

Experience Love & War

Celebrate your love for all things Texas at Love & War in Texas (601 E. Plano Parkway, Plano), a roadhouse-themed restaurant, bar and concert venue all rolled into one. Wash down your big steak and Texas-shaped cornbread with a local beer as you relax in the rustic setting outfitted with wooden picnic tables and antler chandeliers. Musical acts spanning from up-and-coming country performers to established rock stars entertain crowds almost nightly.

Two-for-One

Enjoy dinner and a show at Sambuca360 (7200 Bishop Road, Suite 270, Plano), a combined restaurant and music venue in the Shops at Legacy. Take in one of the nightly concerts staged at this enormous establishment as a light show. Fellow dancers add to the festive and lively atmosphere. Arrive early for a leisurely pre-show meal at the elegant restaurant, then grab a cocktail from one of the two bars.
