Celebrate Plano at These Fun Festivals

Music, arts, culture—it's all on display in Plano with a healthy helping of the city's best food and drink thrown in for good measure

There's a Plano festival for every interest and season, so you're likely to find something fun going on no matter what time of year you happen to be in town.

Up, Up and Away

Held annually at Oak Point Park, the Plano Balloon Festival is one of the biggest events of the year. Attractions at this three-day event in September include a fireworks display, 5K run, children's activities, live entertainment and an incredible variety of local food vendors. But the main attraction—of course—is the balloons themselves. Hot air balloons take to the air each evening as the sun goes down, providing a spectacular sight above the city. Plano really shines with the arrival of the Balloon Festival, which has an annual attendance of up to 60,000 people.

Shop Local

If you have an eye for local art and an ear for classical music and jazz, the Deerfield Music & Art Festival is for you. This family-oriented event takes place every May at the outdoor pavilion in the park at the center of the Deerfield Community. You can view and purchase works from local artists, attend performances by members of the Plano Symphony Orchestra, and taste some great local wine and food. Children can take part in face painting and balloon animal activities, and families are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and blankets.

Drink Up

Steinfest is Plano's answer to Oktoberfest. This event takes over the Historic Downtown Plano Arts District every fall, bringing the area to life with a colorful assortment of craft vendors and artisans, live music and dance, German-inspired food and, of course, beer. Be sure to stop by the VIP beer garden and attend the keg bowling competition. If you're traveling with pets, you may be able to enter your four-legged friend in the Wiener Dog Fashion Show (if you happen to own a dachshund).

Rock On

Following the demise of the ill-fated Suburbia Music Festival—once one of the biggest Plano music festivals—the Toyota Texas Music Revolution has quickly become one of the most celebrated events of the year in Plano. The festival takes place at Oak Point Park with a spotlight squarely on Texas-style folk-rock, Americana and alt-country. Major local and national acts perform on two stages over the course of two nights in March. This festival is a great opportunity to take in the unique culture of the region, with great local food and drink vendors to go along with the music.
