McDonough's downtown comes alive with festivals throughout the year. In mid-April, enjoy a sampling of Henry County's best cuisine at Taste of Henry (111 Henry Pkwy., McDonough), which showcases cuisine from local restaurants and vendors. You'll see much more than pretty flowers at the Geranium Festival in May—arts and crafts vendors, kiddie rides and culinary booths line McDonough Square and the surrounding city streets. Head to the big red barn to browse lifelike exhibits at the Heritage Park Veteran's Museum. A retired helicopter marks the entrance, and you'll find more vehicles inside. Afterwards, the kids can run around at the Kidsville playground. End the day with a stroll over the covered bridge along the park's nature path.
