Canada’s Wonderland: Get your thrills at the country’s largest theme park
With more than 200 attractions and spanning more than 330 acres, Canada’s Wonderland is the country’s largest amusement park. It’s located about 40 miles from downtown Toronto in Vaughan, Ontario and features a 20-acre water park called Splash Works, as well as Leviathan—the tallest (306 feet) and fastest (148 km/h) roller coaster in the country. There are plenty of hotels near Canada’s Wonderland; and there’s always something new to see no matter how many times you’ve visited this family-friendly theme park.
La Ronde: Experience fun and fireworks at this Montreal family favorite
The Six Flags stamp is all over La Ronde, an amusement park in Montreal, Quebec located on 146 acres of the northern tip of St. Helen’s Island along the St. Lawrence River. The park is perhaps most famous for L’International des Feux Loto Quebec, an international fireworks competition where competing counties set off as many as 6,000 fireworks in one night, as pulsating background music fuses with exciting explosions of light. La Ronde also features Titan, a giant pendulum that sits 45 meters in the air that swings so high you'll enjoy a feeling of weightlessness as you're suspended over the entire park.
Galaxyland at West Edmonton Mall: An exciting summer adventure indoors
If you’re looking for an indoor adventure, look no further than Galaxyland at the West Edmonton Mall. Previously known as Fantasyland, theme parks in Canada don’t get more popular than this Edmonton, Alberta indoor amusement park. It features a water park, ice skating rink, mini golf course, a replica of Christopher Columbus’ Santa Maria, a zip line, movie theatres and of course, 27 exciting rides. But if roller coasters aren’t your thing, you can check out the rest of West Edmonton Mall, which features more than 800 stores and 100 restaurants.
Playland: Canada’s oldest and most famous amusement park
Travel back in time and spend a day at Playland, Canada’s oldest amusement park. This Vancouver, British Columbia park opened in 1910 and features 4 roller coasters, including its signature attraction, a Wooden Roller Coaster that was built “board by board” in 1958. Featured in a variety of movies, including "Fear" and "Final Destination 3", you’re in for some adrenaline-pumping excitement at this park. If you’d rather sit back and be a spectator, Playland teams up with Pacific National Exhibition at the end of August for an annual fair that includes concerts, demolition derbies, monster truck shows and cultural events.
Upper Clements Amusement Park: Where there's something for everyone
The whole family is bound to have a good time at the nature-filled Upper Clements Amusement Park. Located in the heart of Annapolis Valley in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, this Atlantic Canada amusement park sits on more than 75 acres and features more than 30 rides and attractions, including a Flume ride called the Sissiboo Sizzler and a popular wooden roller coaster called the Tree Topper. There’s also an adventure park featuring The Tower (a large 20-meter free fall) and a giant zipline. So, book an Annapolis hotel and get your taste of excitement as you make fun summer memories.
