Big Businesses That Call Plano Home

There's no big downtown filled with skyscrapers in Plano, but corporate headquarters and regional offices with worldwide connections call this north Texas city home

Their presence, along with a strong community, has helped the affluent city if Plano rank among the top places in America to live and work.

Business Parks by Design

Most of the major companies in Plano occupy space in one of the city's five expansive business parks. Shared resources like parking and outdoor recreation areas, as well as access to power and communications networks, provide a stable environment where organizations and their employees thrive. At the International Business Park, employee amenities include a health club, sports facilities, a picnic area and gas grills. At Granite Park Four—a newer 12-story office tower in an expanding business complex—the ground floor is set up like a living room with a coffee shop for collaborative work groups.

A Legacy of Masterful Mixed Use

The earliest business park in Plano is also its largest and includes homes and shopping areas. Known simply as Legacy, it was established by American businessman and one-time presidential candidate H. Ross Perot in the 1980s. You might recognize some of the big corporate names at Legacy, including Frito-Lay, J.C. Penney, PepsiCo and Pizza Hut. Experience the vibrant business atmosphere in the Shops at Legacy and in restaurants at the park, such as Gordon Biersch Brewery and Restaurant and Bob's Steak and Chop House.

Corporate Community Participation

Corporations take an active role in making the Plano community a healthy, happy place to live, work and play. Toyota North America, for example, has donated $1 million to Plano school programs and sponsors the popular Texas Music Revolution festival. Another big corporate player, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group hosts the annual Santa Run Texas event, where every participant gets a Santa suit, free food and more at its headquarters building.

A Big Texas Welcome

Many of the features that draw corporations to Plano also make the city a welcoming place for residents and visitors. The close proximity to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (International Parkway, DFW Airport) makes personal and business travel easy. Sustainable living and building practices ensure that places like the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and the Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve remain natural oases in the city. The large corporate workforce that makes its home here also takes an active role in supporting Plano's arts, festivals and other creative endeavors.
