Looking for fun, sun and an excuse to enjoy the great outdoors? Arlington is just the place.
Two Six Flags theme parks, two professional sports teams and countless restaurants serving up Texas’ best barbecued beef and ribs, all call this city home. So buckle up and put on your cowboy boots to enjoy all Arlington has to offer, right in the heart of Texas.
Arlington Averages
If Arlington is a summer destination, you'll be glad it has so many lakes and amusement parks to help you cool off. The temperature can reach the 90s between June and the beginning of September. Mix in some humidity and you’ve got one hot summer. The wettest months are April and May when an average of 4 to 5 inches of rain falls each month. If you're looking for snow, you might find an inch or so in January and February. Winter temperatures usually stay above freezing. March and April are the windiest months.
What to See and Do
Catch a Major League Baseball game at Globe Life Park, or cool off at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. You'll also find Six Flags Over Texas, home of the New Texas Giant hybrid roller coaster. Head out to Lake Arlington for a little canoe paddling if you prefer something more low key. Arlington has more than 80 fun parks to keep you entertained. The International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame is filled with interactive exhibits. Learn to bowl like an Egyptian or try out the "Highway 66" mini bowling lanes. If you feel the need for speed, head to K1 Speed for some indoor go-kart racing.
Arlington Industries
You might say Arlington is the small business capitol. It is home to more than 150,000 businesses with fewer than 10 employees. You'll find the city filled with small businesses like boutique shops, restaurants, pubs and service outlets. On top of the 150,000, more than 50,000 businesses employ up to 50 people, many of which contribute to the tourism industry.
Getting There and Getting Around
If you're flying into town, you'll land at Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport, about a 20-minute drive and roughly 14 miles from Arlington's downtown core. Hop the Metro Arlington Express to and from DFW if you'd rather not drive. Known as MAX, this transit service will also take you to various Arlington attractions. If you prefer using Amtrak, the closest station is in Fort Worth, roughly 12 miles away.
