What to Do When it Rains in Myrtle Beach
It’s good to have a plan B when the sun doesn’t cooperate
Even if rain, rain won’t go away, there are plenty of things to do indoors throughout Myrtle Beach.
You’ve spent months preparing for your family vacation in Myrtle Beach, and now it’s finally time for sun, sand and relaxation. But despite your well-laid plans, there’s one thing that can shake everything up—rain. More than likely, your plans for what to do in Myrtle Beach were all about sun, sand and sea. The good news is you’re still here, and there are still plenty of Myrtle Beach indoor activities to keep the family happy, even when the sun’s not shining.
WonderWorks
Go for a spin (literally) on the Xtreme 360 Bikes at WonderWorks.
One of the first places to seek shelter when the rain arrives is Broadway at the Beach, which features the upside-down house known as WonderWorks. Inside you’ll find furniture on the ceiling and activities like laser tag, a glow-in-the-dark ropes course and 360-degree bikes you can pedal and spin until you’re upside-down. There are more than 100 hands-on attractions here, so your family can spend hours trying to tackle them all while you wait out the rain.
Rockin’ Jump Indoor Trampoline Park
Jump, flip and get some great exercise at this attraction, which features multiple varieties of trampolines. There’s also a climbing wall, a basketball jump and dunk, and a dodgeball arena to add to your play list. If your family’s feeling cooped up, this is a fantastic option to get the blood pumping.
Fun Warehouse
South Carolina’s largest skating rink is the perfect place to introduce your kids to retro tricks like skating backwards and the moonwalk.
Home to the largest roller skating rink in South Carolina, Fun Warehouse features a wide variety of activities that appeal to almost every taste. You can play laser tag, go bowling, and even spend time in the arcade. There’s an indoor go-kart course, too.
Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach
Hold a horseshoe crab and see other aquatic life up close at the Discovery Center at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach.
When you go to the beach, you might spot a few dolphins in the distance, popping in and out of the water. When you visit Ripley’s Aquarium, you’re guaranteed to see sharks and stingrays up close; on weekends, visitors even have an opportunity to swim with the rays. As you explore, you’ll be peppered with fun facts about species like the foxface rabbitfish (which, despite the funny-sounding name, has very serious venomous fins). In addition to many ocean creatures you can touch—including jellyfish and horseshoe crabs—there’s also a wide variety of live shows, animal feedings and rotating exhibitions.
Pirates Voyage
Get into the pirate spirit at this dinner and show, which follows Captain Blackbeard as he and his fellow buccaneers battle on full-sized pirate ships on an indoor lagoon. In addition to the fabulous four-course feast, families can enjoy an interactive experience prior to the show at Pirates Village, which features jugglers, live animals and face painting.
