2018 Contest Winner
Carlos' Story
Carlos, of Miami, Florida, and his family are the best of friends with two other families and have been for almost 20 years.
Hard-working and devoted to their families, the three couples have “been through it all together… from births to deaths and everything in between.” While they have enjoyed taking family trips together, they’re ready for a “no kids” getaway: “Now that we've survived the sleepless nights, sick kids, and traveling with them, we could use our break!"
Carlos and his friends are excited at the prospect of their first ever “couples only” get-together. As a bonus, the group will all reunite for the first time since one family moved from Miami to Georgia. Clarion is thrilled to make their dreams come true with a few days of carefree fun without the kids.
2017 Contest Winner
Brent's Story
Brent, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, served with Army platoon mates who shared “a fairly rough” deployment to Iraq, where they lost many members of their Army family. The friends are a diverse group, “all different races, religions, beliefs and background, who didn’t care about any of that” and “were able to come together during difficult times for a common cause and do incredible things.”
Their experiences forged an unshakable bond: “In today’s world with all this dangerous racial and cultural rhetoric, I am so grateful I had a chance to live and serve next to these fine men who did not look like me, but were my brothers nonetheless. It really gave all of us perspective and I will always cherish the memories we made together.” When they returned to the States the friends scattered; some have not seen one another for more than 10 years. They had long hoped to reconnect through a trip to Nashville. Brent knew immediately that he would reunite his comrades if he won the contest, noting “We all love country music, Choice hotels and America!”.
2016 Contest Winner
Robin's Story
"We have a beautiful, selfless friend AnnMarie she volunteers her time tireslessly to help coach and develop people's understanding on Cancer. She's had her most recent diagnosis as stage four. Her message to thousands has consistently been live each day to its absolute fullest, live with purpose and most of all with Love. To speak with AnnMarie you would never know about any bit of her diagnosis. She's been through this before and has two kids that are both now in college, which she has plans to participate in their future weddings and help raise grandchildren. She's not going to let anything get in her way. Most of all, she refuses to be a victim.
I believe because I know her so well she will do all that she says. Her favorite times are those spent with friends. The photo I have submitted is our most recent road trip to NYC, where we met friends from California. This contest I just stumbled upon and immediately my thought of another getaway with her. This group of friends traveling together again would be a tremendous gift, one that we would all cherish and build on yet another wonderful memory with her. Thank you for this opportunity and we appreciate your consideration."
