The Byrd Theatre, a National and State Historic Landmark, has been in operation since 1928. This 1,300-seat movie theater maintains its classical design and is full of history. While a movie back in the day would've cost you a whole 50-cents, a movie ticket today is just $1.99—one of the best deals in Richmond and real a bargain price even just to see the inside of the theater, never mind the feature film. Or, if live entertainment is more your thing, you can watch the reenactment of Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech at the Historic St. John’s Church.

Put on your best walking sneakers and head out to the South of James Farmers' Market. It's a Saturday morning favorite, overflowing with locally grown produce and artisan creations to scratch that shopping itch of yours. Or, head over to Cary Street and discover all the Carytown delights. Grab a homemade ice cream treat at Sweet 95 or Bev's, window shop all the unique stores and boutiques, and chill while you people-watch in adjacent Maymont and Byrd parks.
