Visit the Greensboro Science Center
Are your kids having the same old argument about whether to go to the zoo, the aquarium or the science museum when spending quality time together?
It's a science museum, zoo and aquarium all rolled into one!
One of North Carolina’s most popular tourist destinations, a trip to the Greensboro Science Center is an experience the whole family will never forget. Your general admission ticket opens the doors to hands-on exhibits at all three attractions, but you'll find even more adventure if you purchase add-on packages for its theater and outdoor challenge course. This fun-filled center is guaranteed to replace “booorrrinnng!” with “aweeesome!” as your kids’ catchphrase of the day. Check into your Greensboro hotel and come see for yourself!
Explore Your Universe
Snap a selfie in front of a life-size T-Rex model that looks ready to gobble you up at the museum, or step into booths where you can experience what it's like to be caught in a Kansas tornado or the aggressive North Pole winds. The museum's interactive displays offer all kinds of discoveries, from the inner workings of the human body to showing how modern reptiles evolved from dinosaurs. Your younger children might enjoy a romp at SciPlay Bay, where they can make music with a colorful octopus, explore a sunken ship and let their imaginations run wild with other interactive activities.
Talk with the Animals
You can’t visit here without at least considering a stop at their aquarium. You can watch a diver swim among the sharks just before lunchtime—without becoming their lunch. Get interactive with velvety rays that swim up and let you pet them, or watch the antics of playful penguins and otters. You won't want to miss the aquarium's most surprising inhabitants—swimming cats! These cats lure fish with their paws and dive deep into the water to hook them with their claws.
Find Even More Excitement
Swing through the treetops like some of the animals at the zoo at the adventure course known as SkyWild. Pay attention to how you dress for this adventure, however. Leave the jewelry at home, tie your hair back and bring a pair of closed-toed shoes. You can't bring electronics with you, but the paths below the nets allow members of your party to follow along and take pictures. This adventure costs a little more, but it's worth it. Later, you can take a break from all the action with an overhead show at the 3D, domed OmniSphere Theater.
