To start. The very off putting front desk associate charged my card and refused to believe me when I tried to explain to her that’s what she did. The general manager was no help either. He aggressively snapped at me and said that I didn’t know how credit cards worked because the charges I showed him in my account were pending. I told him that every charge is pending before being processed. He then assured me that my card wouldn’t be charged. Turns out, that was a lie, and now I’m having to go through the inconvenience of disputing the charges with my credit card company. It’s a small thing but I am very busy and don’t have time to unwind others mistakes. It would be a different story if both of them would have listened to me but the manager was too busy tell me he couldn’t do anything and to call my bank. My bank did confirm that the charges were valid however the hotel manager and receptionist ignored me when I told them this and continued to insist that that card would not be charged. The dismissive, non empathetic attitude from them was very unnecessary. That being said I had to use another card to get my room for the night. At this point I would have packed my bags and patronized another hotel however I had limited time to spend with my wife that flew in for the weekend. (I had already stayed at this hotel the previous 3 days as well.) The day before, the receptionist was also very rude to my wife as well when she asked for new towels because the hospitality staff told us that they ran out, and to ask the front desk later in the day. This was the same receptionist that double charged my card. I travel extensively for work and I had stayed in Choice hotels for 3 months straight prior for work in this same area. I, as well as my wife were very disappointed with our stay. It would be extremely hard for me to stay at or recommend Choice hotels again because of this experience. I would not want to risk someone else I know and love going through the same experience as I did. Also to add insult to injury, I reached out to Choice Hotels customer service after this incident and they assured me that ONLY the second card I presented would be charged and that was not the case. BOTH cards were charged. I apologize for the tone but I really needed this weekend to run smoothly. Thanks for your time today.
