The pool is closed, and the staff is rude and dishonest.
I am typing this as I stay here for the second, and last time. I spent the nights of May 1-2 and August 6-7, 2025 here. I’ll start with the good. The breakfast is typical for Comfort Inn, which is decent. They have eggs, sausage, waffles, cereals, fruit and juices. The location is also convenient and seems to be in a safe area. Sadly, that’s where the good ends. The rooms are mediocre. They did not have bed bugs either time I stayed. But the rooms could definitely use some refreshing. Most of the furniture is blemished in some way. The linens are clean, but stained. A light bulb was broken and left in the fixture. There is water damage above the shower, spotty repair work to the bathroom tiling, the bathroom fan is not working, and the tub does not drain properly. The Wifi and TV also only worked intermittently. Lastly, the worst part of this hotel is the service. They advertise as having an indoor heated pool. When I stayed in May, the pool was closed. There was no indication of this prior to booking. I shrugged it off as off-season maintenance, like they claimed at the desk. However, for my recent stay my friends and I specifically wanted to book a hotel with a pool. I called when I made the reservation a week ago, and 26 hours before arrival inquiring about the status of the pool. Both times I was told it was open. On arrival, the pool was out of service. I spoke with the front desk worker who claimed the pool had “sprung a leak a few hours ago.” Obviously judging by the state of the pool area, that was simply not true. I then attempted to contact the manager, who answered all three times I called, but immediately hung up. While taking pictures for this review, a frequent visitor confirmed my suspicions and told me the pool has been closed for a little over a year. My conclusion is that yes, if you need an okay room on the cheap in the St. Louis area, then this is an option, but at $100 a night, it still isn’t very cheap. However, I will not pay to stay at any establishment that can lie to me three times in a row, and even directly to my face. Next time I’m in the St. Louis area, I will pay more to stay at an establishment that is trustworthy and respectful towards its customers.
