Such potential, but disappointing
This hotel is not yet ready for "prime time." While it has great potential, the in-progress renovations detract from the experience. We did thoroughly enjoy our experience and the food at the Mexican restaurant on site. The location of the hotel is also convenient for the purpose of our stay.
However, we will be reluctant to return for the following reasons. All of the luggage racks were not in good repair such that the central component responsible for keeping the bar for hanging items level were non-functional making the racks almost useless. The obvious paint-in-progress on the floor our room was on was not a pleasant visual. The door to our room did not close completely without applying unusual force. The lack of an actual closet for hanging clothes meant longer items necessarily were crammed into one shorter cubby causing wrinkling at the bottom of our clothes. There was no iron or ironing board with which to remove said wrinkles. Someone really needs to spend a night in each of the rooms to experience how the black-out curtains don't close all the way from top to bottom, allowing light to penetrate from the interior lights of the hotel's central atrium. In such a potentially grand hotel, would it really be too much trouble to have some actual coffee/tea mugs in the rooms? The noise of workers drilling and hammering in nearby rooms began promptly by 8 am. The obvious smell of marijuana being smoked somewhere on our floor was disturbing, especially as I am allergic to smoke. The breakfast buffet was nicely laid out with ample room for guests. However, its offerings were disappointingly limited. The ONLY form of protein offered that my lactose-intolerant husband could eat was sausage patties, which he tries to avoid because of the spices and grease. The "omelettes" all already had cheese in them. Likewise, he couldn't even eat the dry cereal because no dairy-free "milk" was available. Making hard boiled eggs and at least one dairy-free milk option would have greatly improved his breakfast experience. Lactose intolerance is quite common as people age and a great many products that are lactose free are now both readily available and shelf stable leaving little excuse for not offering ANY dairy-free options.
Finally, at least 3 times in interactions with front desk staff, I mentioned that we were in town for the military funeral of our 44-year-old nephew. Only one staff member responded with any comment or question that indicated they even heard me and that comment was to tell me all about how "beautiful" the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery is and the location of the staff member's loved one's grave.

Pool was closed, renovations taking place that weren’t made aware to us before reservation. Drapes and curtains were dirty/ dusty. Would not recommend
