About Salina
With wonderful food, gorgeous scenery and tons of Midwestern charm, Salina is a must-visit Kansas destination
The town itself is rich in both history and culture. That should be reason enough to visit.
Lemonade Summers, Cold Winters
September through November tend to be quite warm, while July is typically the hottest month of the year, with an average high of 90 degrees. Temperatures dip below freezing between December and January. Mild weather occurs during the spring and autumn months, yet you will want to carry an umbrella for the town’s frequent rain.
Museums, Water Fun and Bowling
Is it a museum or a zoo? Well, the Rolling Hills Zoo is both. Check out the museum where animatronic robots take you through different ecosystems. Over at the zoo, see and learn about more than 100 species from aardvarks to wildebeests to a rare white camel. Check out the Kenwood Cove Water Park, open from Memorial Day weekend through late August. This water play land is perfect for those hot Kansas summer days. If you really want to visit a nostalgic local hangout, check out All Star Lanes and try your hand at bowling. For some culture, head downtown to the Stiefel Theatre, which attracts nationally recognized performers and is home to the Salina Symphony.
Agriculture and Aviation
Salina is a small city in the middle of America's heartland. Agriculture plays a big part in the local economy, focusing on both bulk crops and livestock. Kansas State University brings in students from around the country eager to take part in its top-notch aviation program. Tourism also does quite well, with people like you coming to see local attractions and dine on that prized Kansas beef.
