You'll feel like you're entering another world at Mounds State Park, less than 10 minutes from downtown Anderson. Explore hiking trails that wind through lush forest, try some fishing with your little ones on the White River, or have a picnic under the wide-open views of the Indiana sky. Just be sure not to miss the park's centerpiece: a series of 10 extraordinary earthworks constructed by the prehistoric Native American Hopewell tribe more than 2,000 years ago.
Get Your Adrenaline Pumping
After a quiet picnic at Mounds State Park, White River Zip Lines offers a considerably more thrilling way to explore the forests around Anderson. Kid-friendly and open to anyone age 8 and up, White River spans more than 100 acres with a zip-line course stretching more than a mile. Test your balance on the Sky Bridges, and build up speed on the 1,000-foot Dual Racing Zip. If you still want more excitement after zip ling, head over to White River Paintball for recreational play and paintball tournaments.
