History
Settled by British fleeing the United States of America after it won its bid for independence in 1785, this town has a long and colorful history. For many years ships would wreck on the shores of Hope Town until they built the candy-stripped Hope Town Lighthouse in 1865. This distinctive landmark is still in operation today. Of course, plenty of history is still made at Hope Harbor, like when the popular show Scrubs filmed a wedding in 2009!

This island getaway is home to just over 400 residents, and many of those are people who have second homes on the pristine island. That means the gorgeous beaches and amazing views are as close to their natural, pure state as possible. This makes for some unforgettable sights if you’re craving crystal blue water and silky soft sand.
