• Hit the beach. With 70 miles of coastline, San Diego’s pristine beaches offer something for everyone. Discover great surfing, fascinating tidal pools, dog-friendly sections, tons of people-watching and magnificent sunsets featuring the “green flash.” Remember, however, that many beach parking lots fill up quickly—and most charge fees.
• Rock out to free Sunday concerts at Seaport Village. Admission to Seaport Village is always free, but the Sunday concerts add a fun party atmosphere. There’s a fee for parking, but if you buy something you’ll get a discount.
• Cool off and chill out at Waterfront Park on the Embarcadero. The park’s interactive water fountain is a kid-magnet. There are also large grassy areas, a playground, shaded sitting areas and an incredible waterfront view. Remember to bring cash for parking.
