Know Before You Go: About Anaheim

Think of Anaheim as the theme park capital of the West.

Families gather here to explore the fantastical worlds created by Walt Disney—like Tomorrowland and Fantasyland—and to share outdoor fun under the ever-present Southern California sun. After a few days of theme-park hopping, head west to the beaches of Orange County.

Imagination Rules in Anaheim

Anaheim is synonymous with Disneyland for many people, and once you leap into the Magic Kingdom, you might agree. Disney's park is an institution of imagination that combines nostalgic charm with modern marvels. Pencil in Anaheim's other two theme parks into your schedule as well. You can adventure through California's history in Disneyland California Adventure, where the common theme of the rides is the magnificence of the Golden State. Knott's Berry Farm also provides intense chills-and-thrills rides.

It Never Rains in Southern California

Sometimes the rain clouds do skulk into Anaheim, but not often. You risk little by leaving umbrellas at home, given the meager 13 inches of rain that fall here every year. Compare that to the U.S. average precipitation of 62 inches. You won't get cooked in summer either, since the average July high is a very bearable 84 degrees, while January's worst is a mild 47 degrees. All in all, it's a perfect climate for outdoor fun.

A Hub of Hospitality

Anaheim's most important industry is the almost 17 million people who flock into town to visit Disneyland every year. Anaheim businesses make their money receiving, entertaining, feeding and housing you. The more fun you have during your group getaway, the happier the merchants of Anaheim are going to be.

Zipping Around

You won't find an airport more convenient to Anaheim than the John Wayne Airport in Orange County. A cab takes you from the airport to your hotel in a short 20 minutes. Once you settle in, count on the eco-friendly, clean fuel Anaheim Resort Transportation buses to zip you around town—especially to and from the theme parks. ART buses run every 20 minutes and hit Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, among other stops.
