Welcome to Wide-Open Wyoming
Plan your next getaway to the Cowboy State, where the spirit and beauty of the untouched frontier of the Old West still lives on. It’s a state of “firsts”—being the home of the nation’s first national park and national monument, as well as the first state to establish equal voting rights for women.
Go where the stark, flatlands of the Great Plains meet the towering, snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains—and where the wildlife outnumbers people. Wyoming’s top attractions and tiny ranch towns welcome you with arms as wide open as the sky to a state with landscapes as unique as the few lucky people who call it home. Here is where you can take the phrase “get away” literally.

Discover the Nation’s First National Park
Yellowstone is the No. 1 travel destination in Wyoming today. Spanning nearly 3,500 square miles in the northwest corner of the state, it sits upon an active “supervolcano,” that continues to fuel bubbling mud pots, steaming hot springs and the Old Faithful geyser today. With incredible wildlife, stunning scenery and interesting artifacts left behind by earlier cultures, there is so much to see and do in the park—so be sure to book your Wyoming hotel for a few extra days.
Witness the Grandest Sights in Wyoming
Just south of Yellowstone is its beautiful next-door neighbor, Grand Teton National Park. The vast expanse of mountains has 12 peaks reaching higher than 12,000 feet above sea level and are the perfect setting for some of the best skiing in the country—especially at Jackson Hole and Snow King. Visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art just south of Jackson. Or, if you're heading east, check out the monolithic Devil’s Tower National Monument. This incredible rock formation, made famous as the site of first contact in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, still attracts fans (and believers) of the paranormal.
Find Yourself in the Old Frontier
East of Yellowstone, the little town of Cody is home to what some call the “Smithsonian of the West,” at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Head south of Grand Teton to Green River, where nearby Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area welcomes visitors with more rafting, kayaking, camping and wide-open spaces. Finally, head through cattle country and oil territory to Cheyenne, where everyone talks about Cheyenne Frontier Days. Held annually since 1919, this summer rodeo and festival is one of the best in the country.
