Earning Choice Privileges Points - U.S. and Canada Members:
While most Choice hotel stays earn Choice Privileges points, most Choice hotels are independently owned & operated and certain brands or locations as well as third-party non-Choice-franchised hotels may not participate. Unless specified otherwise (in a specific promotion, for example), reservations must be made through Choice channels in order to qualify for Choice Privileges points. Point-eligible reservations for Ascend Hotel Collection all-inclusive resorts or casino locations cannot be made directly with the hotel. Certain hotel rate plans also do not earn Choice Privileges points. Some of the rates that do not qualify for points include rooms booked at rates below $40 USD per night, certain hotel-initiated promotions, reward night stays, complimentary rooms, rooms paid for as part of a convention or meeting, rooms booked through a travel agent or third party online retailer including online travel agencies (unless otherwise expressly noted), wholesale packages, group tours, and stays booked using the employee discount or the friends and family discount.
You earn Choice Privileges points or airline miles for individual travel on the following qualifying rate plans (SRPs) in the U.S. and Canada: Best Available Rate, Advance Purchase, Corporate, VIP and Net Preferred, Choice Cares, Government/Military, Travelers' Discount, AAA/CAA, PSCIEN, Package Rates, Small Organization Savings/Significant Savings, Senior Rate, Sports Rate, CPSA, Preferred Customer Savings Rate, Savings at Work, SGRP1, SGRP2, negotiated rates (N) and select LSRPs. [The list of qualifying rate plans is subject to change.] Airline miles cannot be earned on reservations for Ascend Hotel Collection all-inclusive resorts or casino locations.
OTHER RESTRICTIONS – SEE BELOW

Participating Locations
While you can redeem points at most Choice hotels worldwide, there are some brands and/or areas of the world that do not participate in the program or that may have other limitations or restrictions. You may always call your hotel to confirm that it participates in the Choice Privileges program and that your rate plan qualifies for points. Note that as of this last update, WoodSpring Suites® locations were not participating (i.e., stays at WoodSpring Suites locations do not earn points).
-
Choice Privileges Armed Services Program
The Choice Privileges Armed Services Program provides enhanced benefits over normal Membership. You must be a U.S. active duty or reserve military member, retired military, National Guard, U.S. Coast Guard or eligible spouse/dependent with appropriate military identification over the age of 18, to qualify for the Choice Privileges Armed Services Program. Choice reserves the right to disqualify anyone from the Choice Privileges Armed Services Program who does not fulfill the membership requirements at any time. (This Program is available for U.S. services only)
-
Program termination
In the event that the Choice Privileges Rewards Program is terminated, Choice Privileges Members will have up to twelve (12) months from the date that termination of the Choice Privileges Rewards Program is announced (the “Redemption Period”) to redeem active Choice Privileges points for a Choice Privileges reward. The Redemption Period does not extend the forfeiture date of any Choice Privileges points that are forfeited during the Redemption Period in accordance with the forfeiture policy.
Point Forfeiture Policy
-
You must remain an active Member
Members must remain active in the Program to retain the points they accumulate. If a Member is not active for 18 consecutive calendar months, that Member forfeits all accumulated Choice Privileges points. Any “Qualifying Activity” keeps your points active for 18 additional months, beginning with the first month in which the activity is completed through the 18th month of inactivity. A qualifying activity is completed when points post or are removed from your account.
-
Qualifying Activities
Qualifying Activities include completing a qualified point-eligible stay, redeeming Choice Privileges points, earning Choice Privileges points from a purchase from using your Choice Privileges® Mastercard® card, earning points with one of our partner programs, purchasing Choice Privileges points, or referring a friend.*
-
Non-Qualifying Activities
Not all activities count toward maintaining an active status in the Choice Privileges Rewards Program. The following are some examples of non-qualifying activities that do not count toward maintaining an active status in the Choice Privileges Rewards Program: completing a non-point-eligible stay (such as a complimentary stay or other stay that does not qualify to earn Choice Privileges points) or registering for a promotion.

What a Stay is
A "stay" is defined as any number of consecutive nights at one hotel, regardless of check-ins or check-outs.
-
Limits on number of rooms/bonus
You may earn points for up to four rooms per night at the same hotel. To qualify for points, the rooms must be in your name and the reservations must include your Member Number. Additionally, you must stay in one of the rooms and the rooms must be paid in full. You only receive any applicable bonus points (for promotions or other bonuses) on one room and, if you’re an Elite Member, you only earn Elite status bonus points on one room per stay.
-
Company billing
If your individual hotel bill is billed directly to a company and you are responsible for authorization of settlement at check-out, your stay is still eligible for Choice Privileges points, as long as you pay a point-eligible rate. However, stays where the hotel bill is part of a group master-billing arrangements where charges for multiple rooms are placed on one hotel bill and billed to a company or common address or settled at check-out by one individual, are not eligible.
-
Two or more Members in one room
If two or more Choice Privileges Members share a room Choice will credit points to (only) the Member reserving and staying in the room. A guest may not change the Choice Privileges number on the stay after the first night has been consumed.
-
Some hotel rates are not point-eligible
Most stays at participating Choice hotels are eligible to earn Choice Privileges points EXCEPT: rooms booked using an ineligible rate plan, rooms booked at rates below $40 USD per night, certain hotel initiated promotions, reward night stays, complimentary rooms, points plus cash reservations, rooms paid for as part of a convention or meeting, rooms booked through a travel agent or third party online retailer including online travel agencies (unless otherwise expressly noted), wholesale packages, group tours, and stays booked using the employee discount or the friends, family and associate discount. [See below for Egencia rate plans.]
Rooms booked through third party online retailers such as Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, Travelocity.com, Booking.com, Priceline.com, etc., are also not eligible for points or for Elite night credit.
-
Stay must be completed to earn
To earn points on a point-eligible stay, you must complete one or more night’s stay in the room that you booked (and pay for all nights stayed). No shows do not earn points on a stay.
-
Choice Privileges earn rate
Except as noted below, you earn 10 points for each whole U.S. dollar that you pay in full in room revenue when paying qualifying rates, excluding taxes and other incidental charges at participating hotels.

Elite Membership
Elite levels of the Choice Privileges Rewards Program provide additional benefits over standard Program Membership. Current Elite Membership levels are Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Elite Membership levels are subject to change at any time, with or without notice, as are the benefits associated with them.
-
Earning Elite status
Elite status is based upon the number of point-eligible or reward nights stayed per calendar year. Elite Gold Membership is earned after staying 10 point-eligible or reward nights per calendar year. Elite Platinum Membership is earned after staying 20 point-eligible or reward nights per calendar year. Elite Diamond Membership is earned after staying 40 point-eligible or reward nights per calendar year.
You must qualify for Elite level status each calendar year. Qualifying (point-eligible) stays completed by Members with primary earning preferences set to airline miles do count toward the number of nights required to reach Elite status Membership. Non-qualifying stays, however, such as stays booked under certain rate codes, do not count toward the number of nights needed to reach Elite Membership regardless of earning preference (Choice Privileges points or airline miles).
-
Earning Elite Status at Extended Stay brands
- WoodSpring Suites does not participate in the Choice Privileges programs, and no point-eligible or reward nights are earned for stays there.
- Effective 2/1/2022 stays at Extended Stay brands MainStay Suites, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, and Everhome Suites earn point-eligible or reward nights at rates that are based on the length of stay.
- For stays of 6 nights or fewer, stays at these Extended Stay brands earn one point-eligible or reward night toward earning elite status for every qualifying night stayed. [This rate also applies to all dual-brand extended stay hotels (i.e., a Sleep Inn or a MainStay Suites in the same building as another Choice hotel), no matter what the length of stay is).]
- For extended stays of 7 nights or more, you earn one point-eligible or reward night toward earning elite status for every two qualifying nights stayed. Point-eligible or reward nights earning at Extended Stay brands is capped at 15 point-eligible or reward nights per stay, and no point-eligible or reward nights are earned for nights 31+ of a stay.
- A “stay” is any number of consecutive nights at one hotel regardless of check-ins or check-outs.
-
Elite point earning bonuses on point-eligible stays
Elite Gold Members receive a 10% point earn bonus on base Choice Privileges points (i.e., on the amount of Choice Privileges points earned on a point-eligible stay). Elite Platinum Members receive a 25% point earn bonus on base points. Elite Diamond Members receive a 50% point earn bonus on base points.
Bonus points are awarded beginning with the first stay after Elite Status is earned. The point bonus only applies to stays where Choice Privileges points are earned. The bonus does not apply to airline miles, points earned from the Choice Privileges® Mastercard® or to any other promotion, including other Choice bonus point promotions (unless the promotion clearly states otherwise).
-
Qualifying nights
Elite Members only earn Elite status (i.e., qualifying nights) on one room per stay.
-

-

Dispute Resolution – Mandatory Arbitration
In the event that there is a dispute, claim or controversy between you and Choice, or between you and any third-party acting with or on Choice’s behalf, arising out of or relating to the Program, your reservation or stay at any Choice-affiliated hotel, Choice or third-party marketing, federal or state statutory claims, common law claims, these Terms, Choice’s Privacy Policy, or the breach, termination, enforcement, interpretation or validity thereof, including the determination of the scope or applicability of this agreement to arbitrate, such dispute, claim or controversy will be determined by arbitration in Rockville, MD before one arbitrator. The arbitration will be administered by JAMS. For claims greater than $250,000, the JAMS Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures in effect at the time the arbitration is commenced will apply. For claims less than or equal to $250,000, the JAMS Streamlined Arbitration Rules in effect at the time the arbitration is commenced will apply. The arbitrator will apply the substantive law of the Maryland, exclusive of its conflict or choice of law rules. Nothing in this paragraph will preclude the parties from seeking provisional remedies in aid of arbitration from a court of appropriate jurisdiction. The parties acknowledge that this Agreement evidences a transaction involving interstate commerce. Notwithstanding the provision in this paragraph with respect to applicable substantive law, the Federal Arbitration Act (9 U.S.C. §§ 1-16) will govern any arbitration conducted pursuant to these Terms. Either party may commence arbitration by providing to JAMS and the other party to the dispute a written demand for arbitration, setting forth the subject of the dispute and the relief requested (“Arbitration Demand”).
To the fullest extent permitted by law, each of the parties agrees that any proceeding, whether in arbitration or in court, will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated or representative action. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than through arbitration, each party knowingly and irrevocably waives any right to trial by jury in any action, proceeding or counterclaim arising out of or relating to this Agreement or any of the transactions contemplated hereby. The appointed arbitrator may award monetary damages and any other remedies allowed by the state law designated above. In making his or her determination, the arbitrator will not have the authority to modify any term or provision of these Terms. The arbitrator will deliver a reasoned written decision with respect to the dispute (the “Award”) to each party, who will promptly act in accordance the Award. Any Award (including interim or final remedies) may be confirmed or enforced in any court having jurisdiction, including any court having jurisdiction over either party or its assets. The decision of the arbitrator will be final and binding on the parties, and will not be subject to appeal or review. Each party will advance one-half of the fees and expenses of the arbitrator, the costs of the attendance of the court reporter at the arbitration hearing, and the costs of the arbitration facility. In any arbitration arising out of or related to these Terms, the arbitrators will award to the prevailing party, if any, costs and attorneys’ fees reasonably incurred by the prevailing party in connection with that aspect of its claims or defenses on which it prevails, and any opposing awards of costs and attorneys’ fees awards will be offset. The parties will maintain the confidential nature of the arbitration proceeding, the hearing and the Award, except as may be necessary to prepare for or conduct the arbitration hearing on the merits, or except as may be necessary in connection with a court application for a preliminary remedy, or confirmation of an Award or its enforcement, or unless otherwise required by any applicable law. Any documentary or other evidence produced in any arbitration hereunder will be treated as confidential by the parties, witnesses and arbitrators, and will not be disclosed to any third person (other than witnesses or experts), except as required by any applicable law or except if such evidence was obtained from the public domain or is otherwise obtained independently of the arbitration.
