Terrible "Manager" In The Front & Possible Liar
The guy at the front desk was rude to me and my senior mom upon arrival. We booked the room online on your website in advance and he was busy chatting with another guest who was checking in. Me and my mom had gotten off the local County bus by the hotel and that same woman got off at the same stop. Right after we entered, she was telling him, "I don't wanna be near them". She said that twice and I don't know if she was referring to me and my mom, but that's really what it felt like. It's worth noting she was white and me and my mom are Latina. She didn't know us at all, so one can only speculate she has a racial issue with certain people like most white people do. Sorry, it's just the truth. He gave her a certain room she requested downstairs and when it came time to check us in, he still didn't greet us and took a little while to ask us if we had a reservation. I was too upset by how we were unwelcomed and by that woman's words and so I asked my mom to do all the speaking. He gave us an upstairs room, despite my mom having a roller suitcase and the white woman had no luggage, it appeared. They have no elevators, so when you have suitcases, it's very difficult getting upstairs. When I asked if we could get a downstairs room since we had luggage, he said there weren't any available. It looked like a definite lie since it was 3:00pm (check-in time) and there were like maybe 1 or 2 vehicles in the parking lot. I saw nobody standing or walking around the hotel either. The white woman came outside her room to be nosey when we passed by to go upstairs to our room like she was checking to see if he honored her racist request to not be put near us. She was likely a regular there and according to some negative reviews, they have a lot of those that they apparently show favoritism to. When I wanted to pay for another week there last Sat, he told me we should go to another hotel because they were "up for auction" and could sell the building any day. He said all the guests were supposedly leaving, but I firmly believe he was lying and just didn't want us there since I reported him to Choice Hotels for not fixing the cable and being rude to us. I felt he was typically discriminating. When I checked just now out of curiosity to see if they're still letting people book rooms there despite his auction claim, they are. Why would rooms be available to book if they're supposedly up for auction? He's a young Indian guy. The one who works the desk and he said he's supposedly the only manager there when I asked to speak to someone else instead the other week. He has no business managing your hotels if he don't know how to remain professional towards guests, exercises discriminatory practices, and shows favoritism to certain guests. As a result, I was very disappointed in this stay. Thank you for reading this.
