Things to Do in Anaheim
A long, long time ago Anaheim was just a collection of orange groves
Tons of family-friendly fun awaits in Anaheim—and not just at the Happiest Place on Earth.
Southern California would never be the same after visionary Walt Disney selected Anaheim as the location for his amusement park. Since then, it has become a significant tourist destination in California. As its primary draw, Disneyland is known the world over, but other, fun-filled spots also offer a memorable time of family bonding in Anaheim.
The Happiest Place on Earth
With a parade almost every day, there's always a reason to celebrate at Disneyland. Lose your head on the Mad Tea Party excursion in Fantasyland, take an adrenaline-charged ride through the galaxy on Space Mountain in Tomorrowland, or snap a selfie with Mickey and Minnie Mouse as they both roam through the park. The magic also spreads next door with Disney California Adventure Park. You can achieve great heights on the Mickey’s Fun Wheel or the California Screamin coaster before exploring a whole new perspective at A Bug’s Land. You’ll need at least three days to see both parks if you’re planning to visit in the summer or during other busy times of the year. Lines typically take 30 minutes to more than an hour.
Knott's Berry Farm
Despite its provincial name, Knott's Berry Farm has come a long way since its inception as a berry farm and one of America's earliest theme parks. The 165 rides are wedged into an area much smaller than Mickey's domain. But if intensity counts, Knott's has got the goods. Bounce along a raging whitewater river on Bigfoot Rapids, dropping down waterfalls and past explosive geysers. Or pony on up the Pony Express rollercoaster, where you can ride at speeds never seen in the Wild West. This fast-paced park offers twice the thrill in half the space, and check it out during the Halloween season when it transforms into “Knott’s Scary Farm."
Sports Night
Who doesn’t love a winning sports team or two? Anaheim’s professional teams hold division and world titles in hockey and baseball, and both teams make frequent playoff appearances. Take your family out to the ballpark at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim and root for the home team—the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. If hockey’s your thing, cheer on the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks as they skate their hearts out at the Honda Center. Chances are you’ll have something to yell about since the Ducks have made the playoffs eight times, winning two Pacific Division titles, two Western Conference Championships and one Stanley Cup Championship.
Eating Off Theme-Park Planet
Leave Disneyland behind and dine across town to give your family a break from the park crowds. Settle into the fantastic Baci di Firenze, with its friendly ambiance and authentic dishes, you'll be speaking Italian before you know it. Or go to Orange Roll and Sushi for giant sushi rolls and fresh fish at wallet-friendly prices.
